What To Plan Before A Shop Fit-Out

Start with customer and staff flow

Mark the entrance, main customer route, point of sale, service area and any queue. Then map how staff move between the counter, stock, equipment and customer areas. The joinery should support these routes rather than create bottlenecks.

List every joinery item

Write down the counters, shelving, cupboards, display units, benchtops and back-of-house storage required. Note which items need locks, cable access, adjustable shelves or equipment spaces.
